Every Santa Fe Garden Needs a Swing

I love living in Santa Fe enjoying my Perennial Garden.  After living in Houston almost my entire adult life, being jealous of the beautiful flowers in the seed catalogs, I could finally have the garden of my dreams.  The house at one time had a swimming pool but someone filled it in with dirt, first challenge – convert to a garden.

Last year faced with a watering problem in our neighborhood meant the beginnings were “iffy”. The plants made it through in-spite of the difficulties.  As the snow melted this year, I began to see my dream realized.  The hollyhocks went from just being big green leaves to 6′ tall flowering wonders.

The colors were brilliant and each week brought new growth and even more beauty.

My favorite part of each day is running into the garden and finding new surprises.  I added vegetables in the different beds; lettuce, beets, onions, radishes, tomatoes, squash and next week spinach and new lettuce seeds!

Each night as I spent time in the garden watching the sun setting, I realized what was missing…my garden swing.

I brought a swing to Santa Fe but never found the right place to hang it until now.  Swings are such a peaceful place to sit, to read, to think, or just to admire your beautiful garden.
